Burglary Investigation
February 25, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, February 21, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., deputies from
the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station responded to the 16000 block of Van Buren Boulevard in the unincorporated area of Riverside, commonly known as Woodcrest regarding a burglary in progress. Before deputies arrived at the scene, the reporting party stated three suspects had entered the store and were actively breaking a hole in the drywall leading to the adjacent business. Upon arriving, deputies located two suspects loading stolen merchandise into an SUV. Both suspects were immediately detained.
A third suspect exited the business and attempted to flee from the scene but was immediately apprehended. The suspects were identified as Daniel Matthias Lopez, 45 years old, Robert Nelson, 28 years old, and Alejandro Astacio, 39 years old, all from Moreno Valley—additional evidence in the vehicle connected all three suspects to both burglaries.
