Train Collision in Vista 

March 1, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that an investigation is underway after a deadly Sprinter Train collision in san diego county sheriff department logoVista.

It happened on Thursday, February 29 just after 9:00 a.m. on the tracks near the intersection of Main Street and South Santa Fe Avenue. When Sheriff's Deputies arrived, they found a man who had been hit by a westbound Sprinter train. The victim did not survive his injuries.

The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU) investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District which the Sprinter Train uses. Deputies from the Vista Sheriff's Station requested the Sheriff's TEU respond to conduct the investigation.

The Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the man, as well as determine cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
