Train Collision in Carlsbad
March 6, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff's Department officials report that an investigation is underway after a deadly train
collision in the City of Carlsbad.
It happened on Tuesday, March 5th, at approximately 5:45 p.m., north of the Carlsbad Village Coaster Station near the Coast Highway Bridge in the City of Carlsbad. When Carlsbad Police and Fire arrived, they found a man who was hit by a northbound North County Transit District Coaster train. The male did not survive his injuries.
The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU) investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District. Carlsbad Police requested the Sheriff's TEU to respond to conduct the investigation.
The Medical Examiner's Office will make an identification of the man, as well as determine the cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
