Fire Investigation in Santee 

March 12, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit is san diego county sheriff department logoinvestigating a structure fire in Santee.

It happened on Monday, March 11, 2024, just before 2:30 a.m. in the 10000 block of Woodside Avenue. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department received multiple calls about a house fire. A neighbor first reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the home.  

Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station and the Santee Fire Department arrived in minutes and found the home fully engulfed in flames. A man living at the home was standing outside and advised his father was possibly still inside. While the fire was still burning, Santee Firefighters entered the home and quickly began looking for the man's father. They found him in a rear bedroom. He was severely burned and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit were called to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The fire was determined to have started at the rear of the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
