Retail Theft Arrests in North County 

March 16, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that a man and a woman are facing felony charges in connection with retail thefts across the North County.

On Wednesday, March 13, deputies with the Vista Sheriff's Station's Community Policing and Problem-Solving (COPPS) Unit served a search warrant in the 1200 block of La Casa Drive in San Marcos. This was the result of an investigation into thefts at numerous retail stores in the North County and across Southern California.

During the search, deputies recovered close to $200,000 worth of stolen merchandise, including wine and champagne.

Deputies arrested John Michael Mastrobuono (49) and Jenise Christine Mastrobuono (45) on charges of grand theft and conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing.

The Sheriff's Community Policing and Problem-Solving (COPPS) Unit identifies and resolves problems, both criminal and non-criminal in nature. COPPS deputies perform investigative services, provide patrol support, coordinate municipal and departmental resources to improve public safety and address quality of life issues in Vista.
