April 30, 2024 - SAN QUENTIN – Daniel Jenkins, housed at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center on condemned status since 1988, died April 29, 2024. He was 68 years old.

cdcr430 Daniel JenkinsHe was discovered unresponsive in his cell and pronounced deceased by Marin County Fire Medical Emergency Services at 6:59 a.m. The cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy; however, the death is being investigated as a suicide. Jenkins was single-celled. The Marin County Coroner’s Office will determine his official cause of death.

Jenkins was sentenced to CDCR as condemned on Oct. 6, 1998, in Los Angeles County for first-degree murder armed with firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime, and first-degree attempted murder.

Jenkins killed an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department Detective as he picked up his six-year-old son from day care.
