Update: Homicide in Santee 

May 29, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on May 26th, at about 11:25 A.M., the Sheriff's san diego county sheriff department logoDepartment received a radio call of two deceased elderly adults at a residence in the 300 block of Lantern Crest Way, in Santee. Deputies arrived at the residence and confirmed both were deceased. The adults were identified as 82-year-old David Soulner and his wife, 79-year-old Claire Soulner. The autopsies in the case have been completed. The preliminary results indicate the manner of death for both Claire and David were a gunshot wound. The cause of death for Claire was homicide. The cause of death for David was suicide. David has been identified as the only suspect in the deaths.

The circumstances and motivation for this crime are still under investigation.
