Homicide Update in Lemon Grove 

July 26, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on July 22, 2024, at about 2:15 a.m., deputies received a san diego county sheriff department logoradio call of a hit and run in the 8200 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove. Deputies arrived two minutes later and discovered 44-year-old Brian Colvin, from Spring Valley, lying in the center lane in the 8300 block of Broadway. Colvin was conscious and breathing when they arrived. Paramedics arrived and transported Colvin to the hospital. Unfortunately, while at the hospital, Colvin succumbed to his injuries. The Medical Examiner's Office determined the preliminary results for cause of death to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death was a homicide.

Witnesses reported Colvin was standing in the roadway in front of an unknown vehicle, speaking with the occupants of the vehicle. A few seconds later, the vehicle accelerated, intentionally struck him and fled from the area.

Sheriff's Homicide investigators are working to gather more information to determine the circumstances and motivation behind this death. The investigation is ongoing.
