August 14, 2024 – Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials report that Sheriff Luna, along with Homicide Lieutenant Thomas, will announce a major breakthrough in a decades-old case, revealing that a convicted serial killer has been linked to the 1986 murder of 19-year-old Cathy Small. In 1986, Cathy Small was tragically discovered dead in the middle of the 800 block of Bank Street in South Pasadena.

This development marks a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for a crime that has haunted the community for nearly four decades.
