Man Suspected of Murder in Apple Valley Located and Arrested in Arizona 

September 10, 2024 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Monday, September 2, 2024, at about 3:15 a.m., deputies from Apple Valley responded to the area of Klickitat Avenue and Quinnault Road for the report of a shooting.  When deputies arrived, they located a male subject, identified as Jonathan Cuevas, inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound.  Cuevas was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded and assumed the investigation.  Detectives identified the suspect as Anthony Lopez and learned Cuevas arrived at the location to pick up a friend when Lopez shot him.  Lopez fled the location and remained at large.

On September 6, 2024, at about 7:00 p.m., investigators and officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force located Lopez in Bullhead, Arizona. Lopez was arrested without incident and booked into the Mohave County Jail, in Arizona, where he awaits extradition.
