October 20, 2024 – San Diego Police Department officials report that SDPD commends the hard work and dedication of K9 Officer Jason Langley as he is recognized by the San Diego Police Foundation as the 2024 Canine Handler of the Year.
Officer Langley is described as an outstanding leader, mentor, and instructor who is recognized for his “ongoing commitment to performance in the field, dedication to improving the unit and commitment to the high level of professionalism expected by the canine unit.”
SDPD recognizes the strength of our K9 Unit is upheld by the leadership and commitment the knowledgeable training staff, and acknowledges the dedication of Officer Langley as an instructor to the newest handlers and at the San Diego Regional Academy, which educates every recruit in the County of San Diego.
Officer Langley and K9 Ace respond to hundreds of potentially dangerous radio calls yearly and are directly involved in resolving incidents safely. Officer Langley and Ace at times have been the last line of defense before an incident threatens innocent civilians, community members, and fellow officers.
