Fatal Traffic Collision 

October 23, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on October 21, 2024, at 12:07 p.m., deputies riverside county sheriff logofrom the Riverside County Sheriff’s Southwest Station responded to Rainbow Canyon Road approximately 1½ miles south of Bayhill Road in the city of Temecula regarding the report of a major collision involving a sedan and a motorcycle. Deputies arrived on scene and located the rider of a motorcycle lying on the ground with severe injuries and unresponsive. Life saving measures were performed by deputies until relieved by paramedics. Medical personnel pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

The Southwest Station Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed the sedan was traveling northbound on Rainbow Canyon Road as the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Rainbow Canyon Road at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle lost control while navigating a curve, entered opposing traffic, and collided with the front of the sedan. The role of alcohol or drugs is not known at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

A temporary road closure of Rainbow Canyon Road was necessary to process the scene and collect evidence.
