Suspect Arrested in a Commercial Burglary Series
November 2, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that throughout October 2024, deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station responded to multiple commercial burglaries in the city of Rancho Mirage and the unincorporated area of Thousand Palms. The investigation revealed that the suspect stole $2,000 in US currency, electronics, and safes from multiple businesses. The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team investigated the burglaries and identified the suspect as 48-year-old Kenneth Cook, a resident of the unincorporated area of Thousand Palms.
Cook was also connected to additional commercial burglaries being investigated by the San Bernadino County Sheriff's Office. On November 1, 2024, the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team apprehended Cook while driving a stolen vehicle in the area of Ramon Road and Thousand Palms Canyon Road, Thousand Palms; during a search of the vehicle, deputies located burglary tools and additional items connecting him to the burglaries. Cook was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for multiple counts of burglary and theft of a vehicle. A bail enhancement was obtained in the amount of $500,000. This investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available.
