November 12, 2024 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report on Saturday, at approximately 2:26 PM, Ventura County Fire Department personnel and American Medical Response (AMR) paramedics responded to a medical emergency regarding Inmate Tony Garcia, who was being housed in a long-term care facility in Simi Valley.

Paramedics arrived on scene, provided lifesaving efforts, and transported Mr. Garcia to Adventist Health Simi Valley Hospital where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.

The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, pending autopsy results from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.  As a matter of policy, the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau investigates all inmate deaths.
