November 14, 2024 – San Diego Police Department officials report that on the morning of 5/8/24, an unknown man entered a tented San Diego residence while it was being fumigated. As fumigation workers prepared to remove the tent from the house, the unknown man exited the residence with several bags and suitcases. The fumigation workers confronted the man and took a photo of him as he left. The man told the workers he had a gun and reached for his waistband.
The workers, acting in self-defense, grabbed the suspect. The man pulled out a knife, and the workers ran away, fearful of being stabbed. The workers were able to recover the suitcases.
Later, it was found that a gold watch and other items were still missing. Two days later, on 5/10/24, officers responded to an ALPR hit on a stolen vehicle in the area of 4000 T Street. Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of S. 41st Street and National Ave. Officers conducted a high-risk vehicle stop, and the driver was detained.
A record check on the driver revealed he had two outstanding, No Bail Felony warrants for burglary & robbery. During the inventory search of the vehicle, information and property that did not belong to the driver were identified. The vehicle was determined to be stolen from the residential burglary on the 8th. The driver matched the description of the photo taken from the burglary. While in custody, officers observed he was wearing the gold watch stolen during the burglary. Due to the quick and efficient work of SDPD Officers and Detectives and Flock Camera/License Plate Reader (LPR) technology- the man was arrested for auto theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, and numerous other felony charges.
