Fatal Traffic Collision
November 30, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on November 29, 2024, at 12:42 a.m.,
deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station responded to the intersection of East Ramona Expressway and North Redlands Avenue, Perris, regarding a report of a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a semi-truck pulling a box trailer. Deputies arrived on the scene and located the driver of a silver Lexus sedan unresponsive with significant injuries. The driver of the Lexus was pronounced deceased at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperative during the investigation.
The Perris Station Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the semi-truck was traveling eastbound on East Ramona Expressway, preparing to turn south onto North Redlands Boulevard. As the semi-truck began making the right turn, the Lexus, also traveling eastbound on East Ramona Expressway, collided with the rear of the box trailer. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision. This investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available.
The identity of the deceased will not be released pending notification to the next of kin. A temporary road closure of the East Ramona Expressway between Evans Road and Ramona Crossings was required to process the scene and collect evidence.
