December 1, 2024 – Modoc County Sheriff's Office officials report that there is a new drug detection device that can identify most drugs, including fentanyl through plastic, paper and glass vials. This greatly reduces the officer’s exposure to harmful and sometimes life-threatening substances. 

Our deputies and correctional officers also carry two doses of Narcan on their person in case of an accidental exposure. We are very excited to have such an advanced piece of equipment that will be available to all of our local law enforcement partners.
