December 9, 2024 – Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials report Sheriff Robert Luna’s statement on the annual "999 For Kids" Paw Patrol event on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Sheriff Robert Luna stated, “Today, I had the opportunity to connect with some extraordinary children during the annual "999 For Kids" Paw Patrol event hosted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Special Victims Bureau in collaboration with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This heartwarming celebration aims to uplift the spirits of young heroes facing significant challenges due to severe disabilities, abuse, neglect, or domestic violence. This year, we had the privilege of welcoming 500 courageous children. Their resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity is nothing short of inspiring.

These remarkable children eagerly anticipate this special day every year, a unique opportunity to connect with our compassionate, uniformed deputies and dedicated staff members. During the event, they created unforgettable memories filled with joy meeting the jolly Santa Claus, playing in a delightful winter wonderland with real snow, exploring a charming petting zoo, face painting, and savoring a warm meal generously provided by McDonald's.

The "999 For Kids" program serves as an essential beacon of hope, raising crucial funds to support these deserving children with necessary items and services. These resources include specialized sports wheelchairs, Braille machines to enhance learning, computers to facilitate educational growth, specially designed classes tailored for unique learning needs, and medically oriented toys and games to bring joy and comfort. Additionally, the program organizes a joyful annual Christmas party to ensure these children experience the magic of the holiday season. Through these compassionate efforts, we aim to bring light and support to our community's most vulnerable members, helping nurture their spirits and enhance their quality of life.”
