Serious Injury Collision in Encinitas
January 3, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a serious injury collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist
in Encinitas is under investigation.
On Wednesday, January 1, just before 6:00 p.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a traffic collision that happened near the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Cerro Street.
A preliminary investigation shows that a 79-year-old woman driving a Hyundai Elantra was driving eastbound on Encinitas Boulevard and collided with a bicyclist just east of Cerro Street. The 45-year-old male bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The use of alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
