DUI Suspect Arrested for Murder 

January 25, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Monday, January 20, riverside county sheriff logo2025, at 4:24 p.m., San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a major injury traffic collision on State Street and Quandt Ranch Road in San Jacinto. Upon arrival, they found one of the drivers unresponsive. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the driver, identified as Javier Lopez Montes, a 48-year-old resident of Hemet, deceased. The other driver, Darell Davis, a 34-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The San Jacinto Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that he had veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Montes. Information obtained at the scene indicated drug impairment was a factor in the collision. Darell Davis, who had previous arrests for driving under the influence. Davis was arrested and charged with the murder of Javier Lopez Montes.

The collision investigation required the temporary closure of State Street between Sagecrest Drive and Country Lake Drive.
