Armed Robbery-Suspect Arrested 

January 29, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 3:16 p.m., riverside county sheriff logodeputies from the Cabazon Sheriff’s Station responded to the 39000 block of Lincoln Street in Cherry Valley regarding an armed robbery. The elderly victim reported to Sheriff’s Dispatch that he had been tied up inside his home by the suspect, who was armed with a knife. The suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle and fled from the location.

As deputies responded to the area, a vehicle matching the description of the victim’s vehicle was seen at a drive-thru restaurant in the area of 6th Street and Highland Springs Avenue in the City of Beaumont. Units positioned their vehicles at the exit point of the drive-thru.  When the driver attempted to exit the drive-thru, he saw law enforcement personnel and refused to exit the vehicle. The driver placed the vehicle in reverse and drove over a curb onto southbound Highland Springs Avenue.

Deputies lost sight of the vehicle, but with the assistance of the public, Beaumont Police, and the Riverside Sheriff’s Avion unit, they located the vehicle on dirt roads south of Beaumont near California Avenue and Lamb Canyon Road. The suspect made multiple attempts to elude capture but drove into a dead end, where he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Sheriff’s Aviation provided vital updates, which led to the suspect being taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Jason Wright of Cherry Valley. Wright was subsequently booked into the Smith Correctional Facility for robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment of an elder, vehicle theft, and probation violation.
