Cold Case 

February 22, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are asking for the public’s help in assisting the Sheriff’s Office in this Cold Case. If anyone has any information on this case that took place July 18th, 1980, in the parking lot of Westlake High School in the city of Thousand Oaks, please come forward. The victim appeared to be about 20-30 years old with black hair and brown eyes.

During her autopsy, it was learned that the victim was approximately 4 months pregnant. The victim was found with multiple stab wounds, and her death was later ruled a homicide. Investigators believe the victim was known to frequent and or resided in the city of Los Angeles. Investigators attempted to identify the victim but were unsuccessful and the case became cold.

In 2012, using DNA analysis, Wilson Chouest was identified as the suspect in the Jane Doe Ventura case. Six years later, Chouest was tried and convicted for both murders and sentenced to life in prison.

Using DNA analysis, investigators learned the victim’s family more than likely descended from the Mexican State of Zacatecas.
