Fatal Traffic Collision
March 6, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at about 5:25 a.m.,
deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Bellegrave Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, Jurupa Valley, regarding a major-injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a train. When deputies arrived, they located a Metrolink passenger train several hundred feet from the grade crossing and a vehicle with major collision damage away from the grade crossing and on railroad property. The driver of the vehicle was located still inside the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. Forty-six passengers on the Metrolink train were uninjured, and only one passenger was transported to a local hospital in stable condition for treatment.
The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. The driver’s identity of the vehicle will not be released at this time, pending positive identification and notification to the next of kin.
The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Bellegrave Avenue, between Van Buren Boulevard and Rutile Street, to process the scene and collect evidence.
