Minor Uses Dating App to Lure Victims
March 7, 2025 – Live Oak, CA – Sutter County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on the evening of March 5, 2025, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a juvenile male suspect in connection with a series of attempted robberies and criminal threats.
Over the past several days, the suspect used a dating app, pretending to be 24 years old, to arrange meetings with male victims in the area. During these encounters, he would demand money and threaten victims with a firearm. In one case, the suspect pointed a firearm at a victim. Deputies conducted an undercover operation, and the suspect was lured to a pre-arranged meeting location in Live Oak. Once confronted, he attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody without incident and a replica firearm was recovered at the scene.
The juvenile suspect has been booked in Juvenile Hall on multiple charges, including resisting arrest, criminal threats, hate crime, and robbery.
