March 30, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report on the passing of K9 Teddy or Surf Dog Teddy as he was known by many.

In Memory of Teddy: For many years, he brought smiles and happiness to the community as the San Diego County Sheriff's Office's four-legged goodwill ambassador.  

Recently, Teddy (also known to his many fans as Surf Dog Teddy @surfdogteddy) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. 

The super talented Goldendoodle was owned by San Diego Sheriff Sergeant Daniel Sloppye. 

Teddy was a staple at Sheriff's events across the county. From "Read with a Deputy" events at libraries to National Night Out to Shop with a Cop, Teddy was showered with pets, hugs and love from everyone who met him.  

All of us at the Sheriff's Office want to thank Teddy for his incredible work in the community and his infectious zest for life. 

We love you, Teddy, and we will never forget you!
