In-Custody Death 

May 2, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Thursday, May 1, 2025, deputies from the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center found an unresponsive male inside a housing unit cell. Custody staff and jail medical personnel performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The male was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators from the Riverside Sheriff's Office Corrections Central Investigations Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate was identified as 53-year-old Michael Allen Weaver of Lake Elsinore. There were no signs of foul play.
