Fatal Traffic Collision 

May 5, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:48 a.m., deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Avalon Street and 36th Street regarding the report of a single-vehicle traffic collision. When deputies arrived, they discovered an unknown male subject in the roadway attached to a broken utility pole with climbing gear and equipment. Deputies located the involved vehicle parked along the roadway with collision damage. The deputies determined the driver became entangled in a low-hanging cable, snapping the utility pole and bringing it to the ground with the subject attached. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The male subject connected to the utility pole was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team responded to the location and assisted with the investigation. The incident is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The identity of the deceased male will not be released at this time, pending notification to the next of kin.

The collision investigation required the temporary closure of the intersection of Avalon Street and 36th Street to process the scene and collect evidence.
