Homicide in San Marcos 

May 27, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that the Homicide Unit responded to investigate a homicide in San Marcos on May 26, 2025, at about 4:55 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Station responded to the 600 block of Richmar Avenue in the city of San Marcos, reference a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they discovered one adult male victim, in his twenties, with traumatic injuries. Medical aid was provided, and the victim was transported to a local hospital by paramedics. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at about 7:00 p.m.  The victim's identity is not being released at this time, pending confirmation and notification of family members.

Deputies detained the suspect at the location of the crime. Sheriff's Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation, interviewing witnesses, and gathering more evidence. At this stage of the investigation, the motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation.  Based on information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. There are no outstanding suspects and no apparent danger to the community.
