Arrest of School District Transportation Driver for Suspected DUI 

May 30, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Moorpark School Resource Officer and Moorpark Ventura County Sheriff logoPatrol Services responded to a call of a check the well-being of a Moorpark Unified School District transportation driver, which led to an arrest of the driver for suspicion of driving under the influence.

On May 28, 2025, the Moorpark School Resource Officer received information that a Moorpark Unified School District transportation driver reportedly smelled of the odor of alcohol when he picked up a student from their residence. A concerned parent reported the observation to the Moorpark Unified School District, who promptly contacted law enforcement for assistance and instructed him to pull over and park the transportation vehicle. Representatives from the Moorpark Unified School District and Moorpark Patrol Deputies arrived shortly after and contacted Watson.

An investigation was conducted, and Watson was arrested for driving under the influence. Watson was booked at the Ventura County Jail.

The Moorpark Police Department has a great relationship with our local schools and parents. The Moorpark Police Department encourages parents and students to report suspicious activity in compliance with the school district’s “See something, say something” mantra. All reports regarding the safety of students and school staff are handled with a great level of importance.
