Ghost Gun Recovered - Suspect in Custody
June 1, 2025 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at around 7:20 p.m., the Yuba City Police Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a subject with a firearm in the 1200 block of Northgate Drive. Dispatchers remained on the phone with the reporting party, who described the subject as a Hispanic Male and told our dispatchers the subject was waving a firearm in the air.
Officers were immediately dispatched to the area. When they arrived, Officers located a male who matched the description the original caller provided and attempted to detain him near the corner of Northgate Drive and E Onstott Frontage Road. The male subject, later identified as 30-year-old, Christian Manzo of Yuba City, did not comply with officers' instructions and attempted to walk away toward a densely populated apartment complex in the area, where innocent bystanders were outside. Officers could see Manzo had a knife.
Eventually, officers on scene deployed a Taser to stop Manzo from reaching the apartment complex and took him into custody. Officers found a knife and a 9mm handgun from Manzo's waistband. The handgun was discovered to be an un-serialized firearm, also known as a "ghost gun." Manzo was taken to the hospital to have the Taser darts removed, before being booked into the Sutter County Jail.
Manzo was arrested for violation of the following sections:
148 PC - Resisting Arrest
25400 PC - Carrying a Concealed Firearm in Public
29180 PC - Failing to Apply a Serial Number to a Handgun
Manzo was also arrested on 4 outstanding felony warrants for failing to appear in court for charges related to Criminal Threats and committing criminal offenses while on bail.
Thanks to the teamwork of the community, 911 dispatchers, and patrol officers, no one was seriously injured during this incident.
