Update - Homicide in San Marcos
June 1, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on May 26, 2025, at about 4:55 p.m., deputies from the San
Marcos Station responded to the 600 block of Richmar Avenue in the city of San Marcos, reference a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult male victim with traumatic injuries. Medical aid was provided, and the victim was transported to a local hospital by paramedics. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at about 7:00 p.m. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Kaleb Swed, of San Marcos.

Deputies arrested the suspect at the location of the crime. The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Ricky Pinedo, a resident of San Marcos and an acquaintance of the decedent. Sheriff's Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation, interviewing witnesses, and gathering more evidence. At this stage of the investigation, the motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation. Based on information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. There are no outstanding suspects and no apparent danger to the community.
