June 13, 2025 –  San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, detention staff at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle entering the facility for a traffic violation. During the stop, the driver, identified as Joe Renteria, was found to be in possession of narcotics. The passenger, later identified as Douglas Snider, initially provided a false name to law enforcement. Snider was found in possession of a dangerous weapon and drug paraphernalia.

Further investigation revealed that Snider is a registered sex offender from the state of Missouri, classified as a violent offender. He was out of compliance with sex offender registration requirements and had not registered in the State of California as required.

Renteria was arrested and charged with attempting to smuggle contraband into a jail facility. Snider faces multiple felony charges, including smuggling contraband and a weapon into a jail facility, providing false identification, and failure to register as a sex offender in California.

Detention staff remain vigilant in preventing the introduction of illegal drugs and weapons into our jail system. Their ongoing efforts are essential to ensuring the safety and security of our staff and inmates and reducing drug-related incidents within our facilities.
