Arrests Made in Live Oak Market Burglaries 

July 17, 2025 – Sutter County Sheriff's Office officials report that after an eight-month investigation, Sutter County Sheriff’s Office detectives have identified and arrested two suspects involved in a series of commercial burglaries that occurred on October 24, 2024.

The investigation began with very limited information—primarily surveillance footage showing a dark-colored Mercedes sedan with an illuminated front emblem involved in three early-morning break-ins at local markets (El Ranchito, La Mexicana, and El Bajio). Over the course of the investigation, detectives used a variety of surveillance methods and investigative techniques to identify and ultimately locate the suspects.

26-year-old Davon Owens and 27-year-old Romanie McKnight, both residents of Sacramento, were arrested on July 11, 2025, in Sacramento County. They are currently in custody in Sacramento County, awaiting transport to the Sutter County Jail. Both were charged with five counts of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.

The suspects are believed to have stolen over $84,000 in cash and property during the coordinated burglaries, which took place within minutes of each other at three locations along Highway-99 and Broadway.
