Burglary Suspect Arrested
July 24, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, January 23, 2025, about 10:00 a.m.,
deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station were contacted regarding a fraud investigation. The 90-year-old female victim reported fraudulent activity occurring with her checking account. Members of the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team assumed the investigation and identified the suspect as Agustin Zaragoza, a 30-year-old resident of Cathedral City. The victim advised that the suspect was hired in December 2024 to perform work at her residence. It was determined that during that time, Zaragoza gained entry to the victim’s residence and stole her checks.
On July 23, 2025, at about 1:20 p.m., with the assistance of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, Zaragoza was located in the area of Ramon Road and Da Vall Drive in the city of Rancho Mirage and taken into custody without incident.
Zaragoza was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for residential burglary, committing a felony while out on bail, elder abuse, and check fraud. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
