Arrest Made in Carmel Murder/Attempted Suicide Incident
July 29, 2025 – Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 
79-year-old Donel Mark Geisen for the murder of his wife, Barbara Lynn Geisen, of Carmel.
Donel Mark Geisen was being treated for critical self-inflicted injuries he sustained after calling 911 to report he had murdered his wife. This incident occurred on July 24th, 2025, at their home on the 3700 block of Raymond Way in Carmel. Barbara Lynn Geisen succumbed to her injuries at the residence.
Monterey County Detectives Investigate a Murder and Attempted Suicide of a Husband & Wife in Carmel
Donel Mark Geisen was evaluated and treated by medical professionals at a local hospital before being cleared for booking into the Monterey County Jail. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.
This remains an active investigation.
