Fatal Traffic Collision
August 5, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 3, 2025, at 10:27 p.m., deputies from the
Palm Desert Sheriff Station responded to a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of Dunes View Road and Highway 111, Rancho Mirage. Upon arrival, deputies found the pedestrian trapped underneath a vehicle suffering from major injuries. The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
The Palm Desert Station Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing Highway 111 outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by several vehicles. All involved drivers remained at the scene, and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor for any of the involved drivers.
The traffic collision investigation required the temporary closure of Highway 111 and Dunes View Road. The roadway has been reopened.
