Homicide Investigation 

August 8, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on August 6, 2025, at approximately 7:39 P.M., Sheriff’s Ventura County Sheriff logoDispatch received a call from a reporting party stating two deceased persons had been located inside a vehicle parked on the dirt shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway near the Mugu Canyon Rest Area.  

Deputies from the Camarillo Patrol Station responded and located a deceased female and a deceased male inside of a vehicle.  Investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and located evidence that both the female and male suffered gunshot wounds.  Based on evidence at the scene, the incident appeared to be isolated and there is no threat to the public.
