Deputies Respond to Man Behaving Erratically and Detain Him Before He Becomes Unresponsive 

August 9, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 8:48 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff logodeputies in Highland were dispatched to a residence after the caller reported an unknown male acting erratically on his property.  When deputies arrived, they located a male subject, identified as Michael Mancilla, rolling on the ground.  Deputies detained Mancilla, placed him in handcuffs, and sat him up against a wall.  While Mancilla sat, he became unresponsive, and deputies began CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived.  Mancilla was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
