Arrest of Burglary and Grand Theft Suspect 

August 18, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 28, 2025, Perris Sheriff’s Station deputies riverside county sheriff logoresponded to a new residential development in the 2000 block of Blue Elm Road in the city of Perris regarding a grand theft. Deputies found that multiple solar combiner boxes had been stolen from the location.

On August 13, 2025, an additional theft of solar charging batteries occurred in a new housing development located in the 24000 block of Sirius Avenue in the city of Moreno Valley. The Perris Sheriff’s Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the theft investigations. The combined value of the thefts in the cities of Perris and Moreno Valley was approximately $120,000.

During the course of the investigation, RBST identified a vehicle connected to the thefts. On August 13, 2025, with the assistance of the Perris Station Special Enforcement Team and Homeless Outreach Teams, RBST served search warrants in the 21000 block of Johns Street and the 21000 block of Nance Street in Mead Valley. Evidence of the thefts, along with an unserialized rifle and ammunition, was recovered. Ignacio Barraza, a 32-year-old resident of Mead Valley, was arrested in connection with the thefts.

The following individuals were also arrested during the service of the search warrants:

  • Katy Medina, 32-year-old resident of Mead Valley, for possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.
  • Angel Rubio, 33-year-old resident of Mead Valley, for being a felon in possession of ammunition, probation violation, and an outstanding warrant.
  • Nelson Covarrubias, 37-year-old resident of Mead Valley, for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Jacob Rubio, 31-year-old resident of Mead Valley for resisting arrest.

All subjects were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
