Update on David Souza Investigation 

August 27, 2025 – San Benito County Sheriff’s Office officials issue an update on missing person David Souza.

Our office continues to actively investigate the disappearance of David Souza, a 60-year-old San Juan Bautista resident last seen the evening of July 25th. Due to the suspicious circumstances, this incident has been treated as more than a missing persons case.

Detectives have written and served numerous search warrants and we are awaiting responses from multiple companies. Our San Benito County Search & Rescue teams have conducted extensive searches across the county, and we continue to pursue every possible lead.

We are working closely with our partners at the Department of Justice, California Office of Emergency Services, and other allied agencies. Together, we remain committed to using every available resource to uncover the truth and bring answers to Mr. Souza’s family.
