Case of the Month

August 29, 2025 – Yuba County Sheriff's Department officials report that on June 30 and July 1, 2025, the Marijuana Enforcement Team Yuba SO logoof Yuba County (METYU) participated in a coordinated operation under the Unit Enforcement Taskforce (UCETF), in partnership with the California Fish and Wildlife (Wardens and Scientists), the California Water Board, the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration Enforcement.

The mission targeted multiple locations within the county, including Findley Hill, Reed Lane, Ponderosa Way, Melanese Lane, and Binninger Lane. As a result of the operation, eight search warrants were executed, 10,896 marijuana plants were eradicated, two arrests were made, and numerous water code and environmental violations were documented.

This operation was part of a focused enforcement effort addressing the significant environmental and public health impacts caused by illegal marijuana cultivation. These sites often involve illegal water diversion, the use of unregulated chemicals, and damage to sensitive ecosystems. The consequences are far-reaching, impacting water quality, wildlife habitats, and the overall safety and quality of life within our rural communities. The operation was executed safely, professionally, and with a high level of interagency cooperation. Each member of the METYU team played a vital role in the planning, execution, and documentation phases. Their exceptional performance, teamwork, and dedication to protecting the community and environment bring great credit upon themselves, the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, and the law enforcement profession.
