September 16, 2025 – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials report that the Homicide Bureau held a press conference today to provide updates and request the public’s assistance in solving the murder of 30-year-old Irene Gonzalez.
On September 15, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., a passerby discovered Ms. Gonzalez’s body between two parked vehicles on the 12000 block of Oak Street in Lynwood. She had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back.
The investigation revealed that around 1:00 a.m., Ms. Gonzalez was seen entering a black vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla, driven by a male Hispanic near Long Beach Boulevard and Carlin Avenue. Surveillance footage shows the suspect stopping in front of 12514 Oak Street, where Ms. Gonzalez quickly exited the passenger side before being shot as she attempted to flee. The suspect then sped away, leaving Ms. Gonzalez to collapse nearby, where she was later found by the passerby.
Detectives are asking the public’s help in identifying the suspect and vehicle involved. “Every detail matters,” investigators emphasized. “Justice for Irene Gonzalez and closure for her family depends on the community’s help.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), through the “P3 Tips” app, or online at www.lacrimestoppers.org.
