October 3, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:35 p.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff's Station conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Highway 86 and Avenue 50, within the city of Coachella.

During the investigation, deputies located a handgun, rifle, and ammunition. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Alejandro Herrera, an 18-year-old resident of Indio; Fernando Regalado Jr., an 18-year-old resident of Indio; Jorge Torres, an 18-year-old resident of Coachella; Angel Uriarte, an 18-year-old resident of Indio; and Alejandro Rodriguez, an 18-year-old resident of Indio. All five suspects were taken into custody and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for possession of firearms and conspiracy.
