Officer-Involved Shooting in Central Division 

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

October 10, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the (LAPD) Force Investigation LAPD logoDivision is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred in Central Division.

On October 6, 2025, around 3:20 p.m., LAPD Central Patrol Division uniformed sergeant was driving in the area of 5th Avenue and Main Street when he observed a shooting in progress. The suspect of the shooting, later identified as 27-year-old, Isaiah Gregory Springs, fled the scene armed with a handgun, prompting a help call. The sergeant and responding officers pursued Springs on foot for several blocks to Spring Street just south of 4th Street, where an officer involved shooting occurred. Springs was not struck by the gunfire. Officers deployed 40mm less lethal munitions (LLMs), striking Springs. Springs was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers requested a rescue ambulance, which transported Springs to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries related to the LLMs.

A handgun was recovered at scene and booked as evidence.

The victim of the shooting succumbed to his injuries

No other community members or officers were injured as a result of this incident.

Force Investigation Division (FID) and Robbery Homicide Division responded to the scene and are conducting joint investigations into the Officer Involved Shooting and Homicide. Springs was booked for Section 187(a) of the California Penal Code – Homicide.
