October 31, 2025 – Unincorporated Hayward, CA – Alameda County Sheriff's Office officials report that they have
reopened the 1993 murder case of Zachary
Jackson following the discovery of new evidence.
On June 17, 1993, 30-year-old Zachary Jackson, a native of Modesto, was found shot to death inside his home in unincorporated Hayward, CA. The case has remained unsolved for more than three decades.
Detectives from the Cold Case Unit, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies, have developed new leads based on this evidence, creating fresh momentum in the investigation.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is committed to reviewing cold cases and utilizing all available resources to help bring justice to victims and their families and to hold offenders accountable, no matter how long it takes.
Based on the new leads, detectives believe there are people in the community who have knowledge of those responsible for Jackson's murder. The Sheriff's Office is encouraging anyone with information regarding this case to contact us.
