November 1, 2025 – San Diego Police Department officials report that last Thursday, officers at Eastern Division responded to a call for help, but this one hit close to home. The address was their own parking lot.

A couple on their way to the hospital quickly realized their baby wasn’t going to wait any longer. They pulled into the station, and just moments later, their daughter, Leia, was born right there in the parking lot. Officers rushed to help and were among the first to welcome her into the world.

A few days later, the family came back to Eastern Division to meet the officers again. The team had baby gifts waiting, along with a signed photo frame and a job application prefilled out for when Leia’s ready.

The family brought lunch to show their gratitude, but for our officers, being part of this moment was thanks enough.
