responded to Victor Valley Global Hospital for a medical aid call. The reporting party advised a homeless male told him there was an injured female on the ground near the hospital. Upon arrival deputies contacted the homeless male identified as Taureen Sims. Sims led deputies, fire and AMR to the female victim, who was located near a homeless encampment south of Verde Road and east of Hesperia Road. The female victim was alive but unresponsive and had trauma to her face.
The victim was transported to St. Mary's hospital where she was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Sims was arrested for PC187- Murder and remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center.
