Suspicious Death Investigation 

December 20, 2025 – Yuba County, CA – Yuba County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on December 18, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fire in the area of Parks Bar Road near Smartsville. Information provided to dispatch indicated that a person may have been inside the fire. This was found to not be a structure or vehicle fire. The fire only contained the deceased individual.

Fire personnel extinguished the fire, and a deceased individual was located at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the death are considered suspicious, and an active investigation is underway.

At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been determined.
