Public Assistance Needed 

January 8, 2026 – Salton City, CA - Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies assigned to the Salton City area responded to a report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, Deputies located what was later confirmed to be a human leg. The remains were secured, and the investigation was assumed by the Imperial County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division. Following the discovery, Deputies and Investigators conducted an extensive canvass of the surrounding area both on foot and through aerial resources to locate additional evidence or information related to the incident. No additional remains or evidence were located during the search.

At this time, the remains have not been identified and Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding how they came to be at the location. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are being released at this time. The Imperial County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's assistance. Investigators are asking anyone who is aware of a person who has recently gone missing, or who knows of someone who was traveling through or visiting the Salton City area and has not been heard from, to contact law enforcement.
