Suspect Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
January 9, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on January 7, 2026, at 10:54 a.m., deputies assigned to the Lake
Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the 400 block of Lookout Street, Lake Elsinore, regarding the report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that a male subject inside the residence was armed with a knife and chainsaw, threatening family members. The suspect exited the residence while armed with a chainsaw but failed to follow commands and reentered. All occupants of the residence were able to exit safely while deputies continued to negotiate with the suspect.
With assistance from the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Agustin Enrique Arana, a 32-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore. Arana was arrested and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon.
